I don't think that I realized this until recently, but since my surgery I have been much, much less likely to get sick. That has been great, but it made this weekend sooo much worse. Just a big old whammy sack of sickness. (Sorry, that might be the pain meds talking.)
On Friday, as we drove down to Wichita, my throat was sort of scratchy. Ditto for Saturday, but since we were babysitting C.C.'s nieces, I didn't really have time to focus. By Sunday, when we had time to relax with friends, I realized it was getting dificult for me to swallow. That night, as I lay shivering and totally sleepless with fever in the bottom bunk bed, the realization hit me: I was sick. I tried not to be a baby about it, figuring it was just a sinus infection or something, but the 3-hour drive home was looming over my head. Thanks to the ever-so-generous love of my life, I was able to sleep most of the way home. After nailing down a regimen of tylynol and advil rotated every two hours, I even felt, well...less dead. I decided to suck it up and avoid the doctor since I don't currently have insurance, and the fever had dropped below 100 by Tuesday night. That was when C.C. noticed the sores in my throat. I won't get any more graphic than that, since I know some of you are gagging already. Needless to say, I was ready to go to urgent care...which had just closed five minutes before...damn. Wednesday morning, after another sleepless night, we went off to urgent care where I had to whisper my answers or have C.C. talk for me because speaking was too painful. The doctor diagnosed me with strep throat--bet you didn't see that one coming--and even gave me darvocet for the pain! I'm starting to feel better--slowly. All in all, however, this was unpleasant. I would not reccommend it to anyone. Hope everyone else is staying healthy!
