Immediate Gratification

Wow! People are reading my blog! That gives me the most ridiculous thrill! As C.C. would say, my tail is wagging! I think I have praise issues. Seriously. Several people have also read my students' poems. I will pass on comments, but I know they'd love to read them on the web.

Anyways, my screening interview went pretty well. I really liked the person who interviewed me, and if she is an accurate representative of the district, then sign me up!!! The process is really fast and dirty "30-questions-in-30-minutes-no-drawn-out-answers-please..." But, I am pretty used to that now, so I think I sounded at least moderately intelligent.

As far as updates on our personal life...Here is a picture of our newest acquisition:

We love our new Vibe--no jokes about the name, please. Buchi even has her own seat, so those of you who come to visit can sit dog hair free (unless you have a thing about riding in the hatchback, which would be strange.)

I also have some bragging to do about my friends. Many of you know Michael Swickard. He is a very talented actor, and now I can share with you that his friends and family are not the only people that think that. (Just kidding, Swicki!) Read a review of a recent performance here. Also, he recently won the KCACTF Irene Ryan Award. That means he has been recognized as one of the best college actors in the country!

Also, our dear friend Scott will be starring as Puck in Topeka Civic Theatre's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. We can't wait to see it--rumor has it that furry legs and horns will be involved! Read all about it! (No, the balding man with horns is NOT Scott.)

More Later!

A proud day!

Well, I am really quite pleased with my not-really-so-computer-literate self. I am now the proud new owner of not one, but two blogs! I have been jealous of the online-ness (Hey, Shakespeare made up words, why can't I?) of my techie friends for quite some time, and when Trommer led me to Angela's new blog with the lovely homage to one of my favorite 90's tv shows, I just couldn't stand it any more.
So, here for your viewing pleasure are www.aformerprincess.blogspot.com AND a lovely little link to my class website www.haydenspoetryblog.blogspot.com. My freshmen are a little jealous. They want to know why they don't have a blog. I told them it's because they never do anything worth sharing. Hah. (Just kidding--some of them are awesome.) I have never heard Shakespeare butchered with such regularity--and such intensity!!
But, I digress. Things have been going really well...C.C. and I have a new apartment to look forward to. We can finally get out of maintenance hell here at Pinegate. We also have a new car--pictures to follow. The school year is ALMOST over--that can't happen soon enough! Today they decided to turn on the air conditioning. Today, of course, being 55 degrees and misty. Such forethought. Last week I had kids taking off their clothes and fainting, today, down jackets.
Tomorrow night I have a screening interview with another district, so keep your fingers crossed for me! Also, there is rumored to be a bus company strike. I don't blame them--I can't imagine our hallways on wheels with other traffic hazards to contend with! Also, the latest installment of "why do we have to read this bootsy play?" will begin with Act III, ii--the one where Juliet finds out that Romeo has killed Tybalt (or Tablet, Tyblet, Tie-bald...Take your pick, I hear them all!) I bet you miss English class, don't you?
